HealthCast, Inc. February, 2008 Forrester reported that the Identity and Access Management market is ready to skyrocket. When I visited HealthCast's booth at HIMSS last week, the booth was filled with hospital attendees looking for an enterprise single sign-on that really works. As more and more IDNs add CPOE applications, the demand for an effective SSO that includes inherent clinical workflow improvements with secure access is growing. HealthCast's eXactACCESS - deployed in production environments since 2003 - has an enviable track record of success and unique features.
It has never been uninstalled - its customers rave about the product, and HealthCast's support and service. Their multi-user session management for shared workstations (at the domain level) has been in production environments since 2003 and they have been 100% successful with application integration (unmatched, as far as I know, by any other vendor in the market).
My favorite add-on is the unique proximity card feature. It authenticates users, gracefully, with a tap of their card, logs them off, and offers, with eXactACCESS, configurable password-save functionality that clinicians claim saves them up to an hour each day.
I am really pleased to see HealthCast get the market attention it deserves. They have focused on serving healthcare providers well for 12 years. Rather than marketing hype, they focus on superior service and robust solutions. Many of the CIOs talking to their sales engineers were considering replacing other SSO (or quasi-SSO) solutions that they had purchased a few years ago - solutions that have never worked well for them or their clinicians (e.g., products that were unable to integrate applications, improve performance, and were difficult for IT to support and manage). eXactACCESS succeeds on each of these dimensions.
