Delnor
Community Hospital Selects MedSeek to Develop and Implement Four Portal Strategy
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Consumer,
physician, employee and patient portals to increase efficiency and patient/employee
satisfaction and position Delnor as a national showcase hospital
SOLVANG,
Calif (Oct. 17, 2005 )
MedSeek, a leading provider of content management solutions (CMS) for healthcare
companies nationwide, announced today that 118-bed Delnor Community Hospital in
Geneva, Ill. has selected MedSeek to develop and implement a comprehensive four
portal (consumer, physician, employee and patient) strategy over the next 12 months.
The enterprise-wide project includes partners ADAM.com for third-party health
information; HealthCast®
for secure and convenient enterprise single-sign-on functionality and HealthCom
for on-line bill paying software.
Gale
Wilson-Steele, CEO of MedSeek, states, "The vision and commitment to create an
integrated, state-of-the-art four portal project that addresses the needs of key
stakeholders are extremely rare at the community hospital level. The thought-leaders
at Delnor are acting on their dedication to improve quality care; enhance patient,
physician and staff communication and satisfaction; and increase efficiency. Their
industry-leading initiative will provide a level of information access and exchange
that rivals or exceeds that of much larger, academic hospitals, truly making Delnor's
comprehensive portal a national showcase site."
The
four portals include:
·
Consumer Portal
- Utilizing MedSeek's eCRM modules, the consumer portal will provide access to
relevant and reliable health information, personal health records, reminders and
alerts, online shopping, and e-cards, as well as convenient online registration
for classes and job postings with the ability to respond online.
·
Physician Portal - The physician
portal will provide improved information access, simplified workflow, reduced
paperwork, and improved communications that will strengthen hospital-physician
relationships and enhance patient-physician interaction. Using MedSeek's SiteMaker
CMS (content management solution), the physician communication and information
exchange will be enhanced to include single sign-on capability to disparate information
systems including MEDITECH, GE, PACS, Fetal Monitoring, and CardioHealth, among
others.
· Employee
Portal - The employee portal can play a significant role in helping the hospital
recruit and retain employees - the hospital's most important and costly resource.
The employee portal will provide staff directories, policies and procedures, document
sharing, benefits information and enrollment, internal job postings, employee
recognition, patient census reporting, and general news and events. To expand
the portal's utility, MedSeek is building three custom forms (yearly evaluation
form, 90-day appraisal form and demographic data change form). MedSeek is also
implementing a bi-directional interface to take advantage of MEDITECH's automated
systems throughout the care continuum.
·
Patient Portal - To meet the
demands and exceed the expectations of the empowered patient, MedSeek will create
web solutions that provide secure messaging to enhance the patient/physician/hospital
relationship, on-line bill pay with partner HealthCom and pre-registration capabilities
with MEDITECH. The portal will offer patients access to their personal medical
records and provide prescription renewals, relevant health information and care
instructions, as well as the ability to complete administrative tasks such as
appointment scheduling and pre-registration.
According to Michael Kittoe,
CIO/CFO at Delnor, "We evaluated a lot of vendors in this eHealth space, and MedSeek
could not only get us there, but was the one that had the experience and technology
to rapidly deploy our strategies for physician outreach, improving business process,
extending our IT investments and enhancing our employee work experience." Brian
Griffin, Delnor's Director of Marketing, added "MedSeek's portal development and
integration services, which include its Solution Development Methodology (SDM),
will assure that we advantageously position ourselves in the market by achieving
greater efficiency in communication and knowledge exchange for consumers and patients,
as well as physicians and employees."
